TV Episode Recap/Review – NCIS “Cracked”

by on Oct.27, 2010, under Crime, Drama, Television

NCIS “Cracked” Season 8 Episode 6 – In this episode, Abby becomes fascinated by the body of a young lieutenant who ran in front of a bus and was killed instantly. The woman’s body is covered in a secret code that only she can understand and Abby soon loses herself while trying to crack it. When Ducky discovers that the poor girl was being slowly poisoned, the whole team goes on the lookout for who was involved in her death.

Pauley absolutely shined in this episode and I loved how she played Abby slowly losing her own identity as she started to take on the one of the woman who died. Makes me wish we’d get more Abby-centric episodes on the show.

My favorite bits…..

Tony having a very naughty phone conversation with his girlfriend…..Ethel?

Tony calling McGee “McTween” – LOL!

This bit:
Tony: “I think Ethel and I really have something.”
McGee: “Well they have antibiotics for that.”

Ziva being confused about what kind of role playing Tony was talking about.

Tony reassuring Gibbs that he would be able to pull off wearing a leotard.

Palmer once again finding the exact inappropriate thing to say in front of a dead body.

Ducky being able to figure out exactly how fast the bus was going just by looking at the body. Nice.

Abby’s “Holy Mother of Einstein!”. Oh I am so gonna be using that one now.

My favorite bits…

Ziva getting McGee to install a new security system and it catching Tony trying to sneak into her email.

McGee ducking Tony’s headslap and Tony getting headslapped from Gibbs at the same time. That was a slick move.

Palmer and Tony giggling over an I Love Lucy episode while getting ready to pull a body out of the water. What’s inappropriate about that?

Gibbs stopping Tony and Ziva’s protests about working together by saying he’d rather be fishing and to just do it.

Palmer slicing into the lung and telling Gibbs he was making a lung sandwich. I know it’s wrong and kinda sick, but I totally giggled at that.

Gibbs having to yank Abby out from under table and help her with a bad charlie horse after she tried to make like a circus performer.

Tony pointing out to Ziva if he’d paid a dollar every time he apologized for being him, he’d be loaded. You know, I don’t doubt that at all.

Gibbs going from being nice to not-so-nice to the British officer in about a half a second.

Gibbs correcting the officer and telling him he was more like Gary Cooper than John Wayne.

Vance calling the SecNav before the Gibbs and Malloy before the two of them “got into a saber duel in the parking lot”. Aw man, I kinda wanted to see that. Maybe he should have let them have at it.

Malloy saying he wasn’t going to hold the fact that McGee was an Irishman against him. As an Irish girl myself, I appreciated that.

Vance assigning Ziva to be the Switzerland between Gibbs and Malloy.

The way Gibbs said “dinero”.

Tony telling Ziva that he was watching the pheromones ooze from her body.

Tony mentioning Bond, as in James Bond, and Ziva saying she wasn’t into bondage.

Ziva asking Malloy for permission for a “quickie” (as in search) before the ship left. LOL, naughty.

Gibbs brandishing the wrench and saying “there’s no such thing as luck” when Tony said it was lucky the ship had to be delayed due to problems. Oh Gibbs, you clever man you.

Abby accusing Gibbs of taking a bite out of the crabby apple tree.

Malloy showing up in Gibbs’ living room. Seems like everyone has his address these days.

Gibbs telling Malloy that he had ten seconds before he “accidentally” shot him for trespassing.

Tony and Malloy getting into a discussion about some great British actors.

Gibbs giving Abby a bear hug after she found out about the pollen connection. I especially enjoyed the extra growl he gave when he did it. So sweet!

Tony joking that he’d warn Ziva’s new beau to “be careful” and “handle with care” before settling on the sweeter “contents priceless”.

Tony not being able to help himself and attempting to break into Ziva’s email again, setting off all kinds of alarms. Who wants to bet that he’ll still try it again? He’s like a little puppy. LOL.

TV Episode Recap/Review – Supernatural “The Third Man”

by on Oct.18, 2010, under Drama, Horror

Hi folks! Here’s an excerpt from my review for Supernatural Season 6 Episode 3 “The Third Man”

CLICK HERE to read the entire review at Daemon’s TV.

My favorite bits..

Knowing Dean was really back when I saw him sleeping in the Impala again.

Okay, I gotta say it. How can I not put it on my list? Sam’s body. There. Need I say more? Really?

Dean telling Ben he knew he lying and to admit he broke the thing and take his punishment like a man. So in love with him acting like a father.

Dean calling Sam’s car a “plastic piece of crap”. Not sure I’d refer to a Charger that way, but then again all other vehicles pale in comparison to Dean’s baby.

This bit – Sam: “Were you just racing me?” Dean: “No.. I was kicking your ass.”

Covering my eyes so I didn’t have to see the locusts crawling out of the cop’s head. Ick!

Dean praying to Castiel to get his “feathery ass down here”.

Sam asking “he’s standing behind me, isn’t he?” – Okay so how many other NCIS fans immediately thought of Gibbs when he said that?

Cas saying that he and Dean share a “more profound bond”. Oh man, I think I just heard all the Dean/Cas fangirls squee with joy all at once.

Cas asking “what part of ‘I don’t know’ escapes your understanding?” – Whoa, badass Cass, very badass.

Cas saying that they could rule out Moses as a suspect.

Cas’ completely wrong use of “quotey fingers” as he tried to explain how his “people skills” were “rusty” after spending the last year as a multi-dimensional wavelength of celestial intent.

The argument over tracking the angel who took the boy’s soul – Dean is understandably disturbed at the idea of torturing a kid, Cas has to do it and can’t afford to care and Sam just wants to get the deed done.

The awesome shot they did by panning up from Cas getting up off of Sam’s completely totaled car to the boys standing in the window.

Dean pointing out the upside to Cas being thrown out a four story window… Sam’s car was destroyed. LOL.

Dean and Cas playing “Who’s on first?”. LOL!

Cas walking into a.. disco?

Agreeing with Cas, that was a really bad joke.

Balthazar telling Cas that he was following Cas’ footsteps, by rebelling the way he did when he stopped the fight between Lucifer and Michael.

Raphael showing up and kicking Cas’ ass literally all over the room. and even down some stairs. Poor Cas!

Balthazar saving the day by turning Raphael’s vessel to salt. Nice.

Cas saying “I believe the ‘hairless ape’ has the floor”.

Finally finding out why an angel would wants souls – for the power.

Sam finding Ben’s Halloween costume – a wendigo mask that Dean obviously made.

Dean pointing out that Sam is different after his trip to hell and Sam trying to say that he’s okay after his trip downstairs as it didn’t torture him the way it did Dean. Oh man, I so can’t wait to get that whole story.

TV Episode Recap/Review – Supernatural “Exile on Main St.”

My favorite bits…

Loving the opening scenes, Dean’s life before compared to Dean’s life now. They all made me so sad though.

Dean describing his previous job as pest control. LOL, well I guess that’s one way of putting it.

Dean telling his neighbor his gun was for killing possums.

The Impala was under a blanket??? NOOOO!!! Poor baby!

Totally freaking out when the ball came rolling from behind the car. I swear if there had been a ghost-child back there I was gonna scream my head off.

The return of YED made me jump pretty high but it was nothing compared to the squeal that came outta me when Sam showed up.

Yay! Another brother hug! It’s almost worth it each time one of them gets killed, because we always get great hugs after they are brought back to life.

Finding out that Sam has been back from hell for a year but didn’t want Dean to give up his regular life.

Samuel telling Dean to take a minute after all the resurrections he’d seen in one day. Yeah I’d be needing a minute, too. Maybe two or three actually.

Bobby assuming that if Dean was there, something was wrong. Dontcha just love how optimistic everyone is whenever they see each other? First Dean assumes he’s dead when he sees Sam and then Bobby assumes something’s wrong when he sees Dean. Okay yeah, except Bobby was right though.

Bobby saying that the tv was broken, but there were plenty of Reader’s Digests to read. LOL. Yeah that’s what every kid wants to hear.

Finding out that Bobby knew that Sam was alive, too. Oh, poor Dean.

Lisa calling Dean an idiot and telling him that she expected a guy who showed up at her door after basically saving the world to have a couple of issues. That was awesome.

Dean proving to his cousins that though he’s been out of the hunting game for a while, he still remembers a thing or two.

Kinda wanting to smack everyone around for going through Dean’s house and making fun of it. What, so they wanted him to live a normal life but all signs of that normal life are fodder for jokes? Um, make up your minds people!

Dean asking Sam if he wanted to talk about hell, because if anyone could relate, it was him.

Poor Dean having to see the image of Lisa burning on the ceiling and Ben drinking the YED’s blood. Yes it was just the djinn’s poison, but still.

Dean offering Sam the keys to the Impala because “she should be hunting”. Kinda surprised that Sam didn’t take her but also not, the Impala is his and he’s gonna need her when he does get back to hunting (cuz come on, we all know he will at some point).

Alternative Guitar Lessons Review: JamPlay

by on Oct.17, 2010, under Websites

Hi folks!

Once again, I’m trying to expand a little bit and this entry is a guest post from Kyle, the Guitar Lessons Critic. After playing guitar for over 12 years, he’s purchased dozens of courses and memberships and written real, unbiased guitar lesson reviews. This post focuses on JamPlay, his #1 rated private lesson’s alternative. I hope y’all enjoy the post.

Let’s be frank. Not every one is John Mayer. Sure, he is arguably one of the greatest guitarists of the 21st century and an infamous example of the “self-taught” learner, but not everybody can just pick up the guitar and play.

Mayer has inspired a new nation of guitar enthusiasts and a new way of thinking. Private music lessons are no longer the only fundamental way to learn the guitar. As a result, hundreds if not thousands of self-taught or self-starter guitar lesson products exist on the Web today.

…But that does not mean all of them are reliable, dependable, informative or even accurate.

That is why Guitar Lessons Critic was established. It was designed to create a fair and completely unbiased look at the very best in alternative methods to learning the guitar. I have found that while the good far outweighs the bad, there are always a few bad apples in every category. I have also found that JamPlay is quite possibly one of the greatest alternative methods to private guitar lessons.

JamPlay is best described as a very large community that was designed for guitarists by guitarists. Beginners come here to learn how to become better musicians. For a very minimal monthly fee ($19.95 a month compared to an average of $16-$24 p/30 minutes for a private lesson), members receive unlimited access to 1,000+ HD-quality guitar lesson videos from professional musicians, community support, chord and scale libraries and live lessons.

Some online guitar resources simply go for quantity at the sake of quality, but JamPlay’s 42 different instructors is both incredibly diverse and incredibly valuable. Not only is the selection of instructors large, but users can also select a teacher based on a particular genre (anything from country to metal) and can be assured that these people are among the leaders in guitar education.

Following the standard formula of online guitar resources, JamPlay allows users to access the site and its lessons anytime they so desire. This is obviously one of the strongest selling points over private lessons in which you are at the mercy of the instructor’s own schedule.

However, were most extensive video lesson libraries leave off (and ultimately fall short), JamPlay thrives by providing a real, active community in which members may connect with other users. The directory is quite extensive, as 10,000+ members are active and over 20,000+ guitarists have used JamPlay at some point.

The forum is very well organized and is not your traditional time waster in which you need to spend 10 to 20 minutes shuffling through the fluff to find something of value. Spam, racist and other comments are non-evident which is nice for a change of pace.

I could rave about JamPlay’s numerous other features, from the advanced or often overlooked (live webcast lessons, backing tracks) to the subtle yet resourceful (guitar tuner, metronome, chord libraries) but the simple fact is you just need to get connected to really appreciate everything JamPlay has to offer.

Ultimately, it’s not easy to create a single product that can include everything in the world of guitar. Each program has its flaws, but when you need a very well centered resource that honestly strives to provide something for every one, JamPlay is the spot.
