Supernatural The End

This episode had so many things in it that I liked, it’s hard to know where to begin. First off I’m a sucker for post apocalyptic stuff and also for my favorite characters getting to act differently than they normally do. This episode delivered on all counts. From the glimpse to the future, to Dean meeting his future self, to Sam actually being Lucifer, to Cas being a hippie – I loved it all.

Highlights….

Love how the “Then..” montages give clues as to what will be happening in the ep. I see that we will be finding out more about the Croatoan virus and the Colt.

Dean’s response to the guy asking him if he’s taken time out to think about God’s plan for him…..erm yeah, probably more than anyone on the planet, dude.

Dean and Cas chatting on the phone and Cas talking about “The Voice” telling him that his time is almost out. Hilarious.

Cas finding out that the Colt hasn’t been destroyed. Hmmm…

Cas standing by the side of the road, waiting for Dean to sleep. He looked so dejected just hanging out there. OMG can Cas get any better?

Sam calling Dean to tell him that Lucifer has chosen his as his vessel. Don’t know why, but I didn’t expect that. I guess I expected Sam to keep it a secret and try to fight on his own. Was kinda cool that he chose to call Dean instead.

Dean’s speech about how he and Sam are not stronger when they’re together. Him mentioning that it was the love (and family, etc) between them that would always be used against them just broke my heart. Poor boys…

Yays! Post Apocalyptic city FTW! Love, love, love Dean walking through it all not knowing WTF was going on and then running into the creepy little girl in the street….ahhh!!

The army showing up, blowing away the “zombies” to yet another great song – Do You Love Me (Now That I Can Dance) by The Contours. Classic.

Zachariah popping up in the car and scaring the crap out of Dean. Yep, totally saw that coming.

Dean driving to Bobby’s house as the first thing he does when things go wrong, and knowing exactly where Bobby’s hunter’s journal is hidden.

The funniest moment of the evening happening when Dean finds his baby in a junk heap. A man steps up behind him and I immediately tell my friends, “That’s Dean”. We see that it is in fact (another) Dean and my friend Paul turns in shock and says “How did you know that was him only from the waist down???”. Needless to say his wife and I laughed our arses off and no, I didn’t touch that question with a ten foot pole. *wink*

Dean meeting his future twin, seriously I could talk about this all day. Jensen did an amazing job. I could really see the difference between the two “Deans”, just in how he played them. Future Dean is worn out, doing what he can to save the world and has become a leader. Past Dean is still the guy we know now. When the “two” of them did scenes together, it was like a whole new character was on the show. Well done Jensen!

Past Dean telling Future Dean that they both liked wearing a chick’s panties once. Especially cracked me up as I wrote in a fanfic once about Dean being forced to wear pink frilly panties (Because Sam had put a pair his bag after stealing all his underwear in a prank war).

Seeing that Chuck survives and finding out that he’s in charge of supplies. That is so Chuck.

Past Dean finding Future Cas. Alright I know I’ve only met the man once and during that time we spent most of the few minutes we had to chat, talking about pies (long story). But I really felt like Future Cas was a lot like Misha himself. Funny, laid back, smartass, etc….thought not high of course. LOL.

Seeing just how shocked Past Dean is by the things that his future self is okay with doing – shooting men down in cold blood because they got the virus, torturing people to get info he needs, sacrificing a group of his people to get to Lucifer, etc.

The way Cas kept calling Dean “Our Fearless Leader” and being a smartass.

Future Dean revealing to Past Dean that Sam said yes, Lucifer is now in his brother, and begging his past self to say yes to Michael. Wow…..just, wow.

Chuck telling Dean to hoard toilet paper. LOL.

Cas driving for once! Yay!….okay not as cool that he was doing it while on Absinthe and amphetamines but still, he was driving.

Cas’s whole speech to Dean about what has been happening to him after losing his angel mojo. So awesome and funny and yet so sad to see him like that.

Watching “Sam” snap Future Dean’s neck like it was nothing. Okay I know that this is all an “alternate” future but that was so cold, so brutal. Wow.

The way Jared played Lucifer. My hat is off to him as well for another amazing job. Once again I could clearly see the difference between Sam and Lucifer, just in the way Jared played it. There was no doubt that the man in front of Dean was not his brother, no matter what he looked like. Well done Jared!

Lucifer saying how much he loved the earth. But I admit it makes me a little curious. Who set the virus upon the world that ended up basically destroying it? I thought it was demons and if so, aren’t they under his command?

Lucifer telling his story of why he was sent to Hell. I found it very intriguing, but I did love the fact that Dean didn’t buy it at all. As my friend Lisa pointed out, Lucifer may be really nice about it, but he’s just as manipulative as the other angels.

Another Dean moment with a single tear drop falling down his face. How does Jensen do that???

Cas saving the day and pulling Dean away from Zachariah.

Dean telling Cas to never change. So sweet.

The shot of Dean leaning up against the Impala as he waited for Sam under the old bridge. Showing how alone he is until his brother arrives. What a great way to tell a story with just a camera angle.

Dean deciding that even if others use it against them, it’s better that they stay together because they’re all they’ve got and “we keep each other human”. So powerful and so very true. I enjoyed their time apart and I think it did a lot for the characters, but I’m glad the boys are back together again.

Overall a truly great episode that may very well go down as one of my all-time favorites. With two Deans, a hippie Cas, Lucifer in Sam’s body and a glimpse into a possible future that I hope the boys can prevent from ever happening.
