Positively Positive Review – Project Runway: Welcome to Los Angeles!

by on Aug.22, 2009, under Reality

Finally! After waiting what felt like forever, one of my favorite reality TV shows is back. When I first heard about this show, I never thought I would like it and in fact didn’t even watch the first episodes. Then a marathon came on one Sunday afternoon when I was bored and that was all it took. I was hooked.

I was happy to see that everything pretty much looks and feels the same despite the change of networks and location of the show. I guess they figured why change it if it works, right?

Highlights…..

Yes! I see they picked someone who designs for plus sizes. I know that doesn’t mean we’ll ever see them on the runway but still, it was nice to see.

Wow! One of the contestants is nearly 50. Yay for no age limits. I love it.

Oooh…I think Louise Black is going to be one of my favorites. I like her style.

Not sure how long this Ari girl is gonna last, she’s very…..um….unique.

Love Tim Gunn. He always takes the time to talk to people, even a brand new contestant who has a breakdown on the very first challenge.

I think it’s cool that they have a mix of people who went to fashion school and some who didn’t. Just shows they go by a person’s work and not their “credits”. So awesome.

Whoa! That guy is sending a (basically) nude model down the runway??

I love the way Nina asked that wacky girl what red carpet her girl was going to in that dress….hate to say it but I really don’t see that chick surviving the first cut.

Amazing that the guy who had the breakdown is in the top three. Way to go!

Huh, Nina sort of liked the “naked” dress. I gotta say, it is quite interesting….and in a better way than the wacky girl’s dress.

The guy without the formal education won. Nice!

Yes! I was right. Crazy chick is out. That other guy may have sent out a “nightgown” but that’s only because his measurements got messed up. Before that, I actually liked the dress he had made.

Overall a strong first episode of a show that doesn’t show any signs of its move to a new network and a new city. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.
