TV Episode Recap/Review – The Good Guys: Don’t Tase Me, Bro

by on Aug.03, 2010, under Action, Comedy, Crime, Television

Oh man, where do I begin? Last night’s episode of The Good Guys, called “Don’t Tase Me, Bro” had so much good stuff I don’t know what to talk about first. Plus, I’m finding it hard to decide which character I like more, Dan or Jack. On the one hand you have Dan’s over-the-top, every-line-that-comes-from-his-mouth-is-hilarious bit, then on the other you have Jack’s much more subtle but no less funny performance. It’s an impossible choice so I guess I’ll just say that I love them both equally, how’s that?

In this episode the guys, as always, start out on a little case that leads to something much bigger. This time it’s a couple of stolen bikes that lead them to a federal witness who’s being tracked by an assassin. Dan and Jack inadvertently cause the witnesses’ image to appear on a Youtube like site in a video where Dan not only tases the witness, but Jack too. The bad guys see the video, call in a hitman to take care of him and, well, hilarity ensues.

Dan also finds what appears to be his soulmate, a US Marshall who’s as tough as he is, hates authority and drives a hot car. It’s a match made in heaven – except for the fact that she can’t stand him…..well at least for a little while anyway. Eventually she gives in to his charms, using Dan for one night before leaving him and his broken heart with nothing but a sock to remember her by.

In the end, the boys catch the baddie, Dan gets over his broken heart by the time he gets to the elevator and Jack….well Jack is still trying to hide the fact that he’s in love with Liz. Guess we’ll have to wait until the fall to see what happens between those two.

My favorite bits…

Dan’s absolute distaste for the “robot gun”.

Cracking up at Dan’s definition of a “kid finder” and also the husband’s response when he saw that his wife had put them on the bikes he’d given to the bookie.

This line from Dan – “You get to NOT touch a woman and get some typing in. That’s two of my least favorite things, right there.” LOL!

Finding out that Jack used to sext Liz, but then ruined it with a smiley face. Why does that not surprise me?

Knowing as soon as Dan said “Don’t worry, I don’t even know where the trigger is” that someone was gonna get tased…..then laughing my ass off when he not only got the bookie, but Jack too.

Everyone’s imitation of Jack getting tased, especially Dan’s.

Scary, badass killer for hire “The Duke” turning out to be one heck of a wimpy momma’s boy who sounded like a grumpy teenager. I loved all the arguments with mom over the phone.

Dan pronouncing ACLU as “Ackloo”. LOL!

Dan apologizing to Jack with “I’m sorry you screamed like a girl when I shot you with my toy plastic gun” and Jack telling him “That didn’t count!”

Jack getting a kick out of the Marshall shooting Dan down.

The use of “Radar Love” by Golden Earring when the truck blew up.

Jack coming up with the idea to tell the media that the witness was killed in the bomb.

Jack’s uncontrollable glee when the Marshall told Dan “I wouldn’t have slept with you in your prime.” Hilarious.

Dan’s anguished call to Jack after being rejected, asking him for advice since he gets “rejected all the time”.

The Marshall waiting for Dan in his trailer. Okay yeah, I didn’t see that coming but I thought it was so freaking awesome! Especially them playing “Dream Weaver” by Gary Wright. Perfect.

Dan’s blubbering with the sock, telling Jack “I sniffed all of her out of it”. OMG! ROTFLMAO!

Being completely impressed with how they did the car crash.

Dan singing “All Out of Love” by Air Supply – not only loudly, not only with the wrong lyrics, but using the oldest working Walkman probably on the planet. LOL.

The totally awesome way that both Dan and Jack came crashing into the room to save the day. I loved Dan coming through the window but I TOTALLY LOVED Jack sliding down the stairs. So awesome!

Jack getting his sweet revenge and an actual sincere apology from Dan – after shooting him with the taser. Excellent use of “Love Hurts” by Nazareth too.

Liz’s imitation of Jack getting tased. LOL! Didn’t know she had it in her.

Overall a hysterical end to the summer season of this show which will have me waiting anxiously for it to return in the fall.
