In this episode of Burn Notice, called “Blind Spot” everyone is, as usual, working on different cases. First off Fiona comes to the aid of a grieving woman who had her entire life saving snatch from her by a sleazy womanizer. It’s a job tailor made for Sam, so he helps her to get the sleazebag back. Every plan they have blows up in their face until finally they resort to drugging him (twice) to make him black out and think that he’s killed the woman whose money he stole. Then Michael steps in as a “dirty cop” and claims he can make it all go away, which he does (since it never happened in the first place) and gives the money to the client.

Meanwhile Michael and Jesse are after the man who wants Simon’s bible. Sam has a friend make up a fake file on the guy so they can fool Jesse into thinking he’s the reason he got burned. They are trying to help Jesse but have to resort to lying to him in order to do it. Madeline, unable to take looking into the eyes of a man that her son is lying to, decides to leave town. Turns out to be just in the nick of time as Jesse finally figures out who really burned him and takes off, but not before making it very clear what he wants to do to Michael, Sam and Fiona for what they did.

My favorite bits…

The boys having to stop their super secret spy meeting because of a game of Canasta. I know I hate it when that happens in the middle of my spy meetings.

The words “Merchant of Death” appearing under Barrett’s name.

Michael pointing out to Fiona that he and Jesse may be sitting ducks, but they were well-armed ducks.

This line from Fiona: “The man’s a sleazy womanizer. Clearly a job for Sam Axe.”

I’m with Sam, Chuck Finley IS forever!

Sam having to hold Fi back from putting a bullet in the sleaze bag’s skull. So surprising to see how emotionally attached she got to the case.

Fi telling the client “insane is one of our specialties”. Yep, that’s very true.

Sam dropping Charles’ head on the floor at Fiona’s request, not just once but twice.

Laughing my ass of at this bit:
Bad Guy: “You have no idea who you’re messing with.”
Michael: “Well, whose fault is that? You haven’t told us your name yet.”

Cracking up when Michael slapped at a mosquito in the middle of a conversation. No way was that scripted, that’s just a normal part of Miami.

Totally knowing that Fi was gonna reach over and start kissing Jesse when their cover was nearly blown…..and the look on his face when she did it.

The client asking if they had a manual where they get all their stuff. LOL, I’ve always wondered that myself.

Jesse suggesting that Sam had lost his taste for alcohol…..*rolls on floor in hysterical laughter*

Loving Michael’s English accent.

Fi taking on two bad guys in Emily’s house all on her own.

The way they set up Charles to think he killed Emily. Brilliant.

The way Michael kept slapping his hand to emphasize why he needed to charge a million dollars to clean up the “murder”.

Michael questioning “tosser?” when Charles went off on his accountant. LOL. (“Tosser” is a British insult and like “wanker” literally means one who….erm….wanks off. Get it?)

Sam telling Charles the truth about everything in the limo and then leaving him with this awesome line: “You know, there’s nothing more pathetic than a bitch who can’t move on. A raging British jackass once told me that.”

My jaw dropping at the final scene when Jesse figured out what happened and not only held a gun on Fiona, but actually cocked it and threatened to kill her for betraying him.

Overall an episode that transitioned from the normal action packed with a bit of comedy, straight to dramatic and gasp inducing in the space of about 30 seconds. Next week’s finale looks to be awesome.

Having ridden out a hurricane or two in Miami, this week’s episode of Burn Notice, called “Center of the Storm” was somewhat familiar. Putting plywood up on windows, evacuating to higher ground, cleaning up afterwards, yep I’ve been there and done that.

Then again, Michael and his friends did have a smidge more to worry about than I did in my last hurricane. First of all, now that they’ve got Simon’s bible (which they are sure is a code cipher), Michael wants to meet with the man himself. While he’s trying to arrange that, he’s still keeping the secret from Jesse that this whole business is what got him burned, oh and he gets kidnapped.

The two FBI agents that used to follow Michael around need his help when they lose their witness that they were supposed to be protecting. Michael goes looking for the witness and ends up finding the hitman after the poor guy. He manages to talk his way out of getting dead by convincing said hitman that he’s another hitman who has info that can help. Michael does manage to find the witness and also talks his captor into helping to save his life when yet another hitman shows up to finish the job. This episode was lousy with hitmen.

My favorite bits…

Fi reluctantly mumbling that though she had been mocking Michael for wanting to get a face to face with Simon, he wasn’t wrong about why it needed to be done.

Michael screaming at Vaughn and demanding to speak to Simon, then coming down to almost a whisper to declare that he’s pretty dangerous too. Honestly it was the whisper that scared me more.

Cracking up the moment I saw agents Lane and Harris were going to be the clients for this episode.

The way Michael double-timed it out of Fi’s apartment after announcing that he was doing a favor for the FBI, especially the little grin he gave right before he snuck out the door.

Cringing myself when Sam threatened to shoot the car. Why do they always have to shoot the pretty cars?

Michael and Sam being nice enough to leave a bag of chicken with the guys they locked in the trunk.

The look on Michael’s face when he got caught by the assassin in his apartment. Oopsie.

Cole telling Michael to keep talking because he was “fun to listen to.”

Vaughn going to Fi’s and offering her a deal to get Jesse back in if she gets him Simon’s book and then telling her that Michael is addicted to his life and on his way to becoming like that maniac. Ugh, what a sneaky bastard to go behind Michael’s back like that but sometimes I think he might be right about Michael being addicted.

Maddie’s CB handle being “Smokin’ Mama”

Finding out that Cole used to be in the Corps and Michael pointing out that if the guy was already daydreaming about leaving the life that he wasn’t cut out for it.

Wondering when Michael said “breaker one nine” on the CB, if he actually was on channel 19.

Maddie figuring out the code that Sam and Jesse used to give Michael a description of the house.

The annoyed look Michael gave when he had to repeat that he was Michael Westen and he was there to save those people.

Michael managing to get Cole on his side and protecting the guy he was supposed to kill and then the two of them building a bomb to catch the other hitmen. That was awesome.

Laughing when Maddie told Michael that if she had evacuated then she wouldn’t have been around to save his “skinny butt”. LOL!

Knowing that I was right and Fi would never give the book to Vaughn. Good girl!

Lane and Harris acting as Michael’s personal FBI guys in black suits. I guess it pays to have the FBI owe you a favor.

Overall I found this a really exciting episode of Burn Notice. From the hurricane to Michael getting kidnapped by a hitman and finally to it becoming very clear that Michael is going to be facing some personal demons when he meets up with Simon. I’m very excited for the rest of the season.

This week’s episode of Burn Notice, called “Where There’s Smoke” had the entire gang involved in a job as Fiona gets herself kidnapped to protect a client. Michael begins negotiations with the kidnappers but Fi sends a coded message letting him know that she and the client are dead, money or no money. So then Michael and Sam run off to try and find her, leaving Jesse and Maddie to deal with the husband who doesn’t believe that his money won’t solve the problem.

As expected, Fi is not your run-of-the-mill damsel in distress and manages to get herself free just in the nick of time for Sam to jump in and help her kidnap one of the kidnappers. Jesse and Maddie talk the husband into telling them where the drop is, allowing Michael to save the client.

All is fine and dandy with the group, or is it? First off Maddie discovers Jesse’s secret – that he’s falling for Fiona. Then Michael has to lie to Jesse, again.

Yep, looks like we’re gearing up for some major drama. Oh boy.

My favorite bits….

Michael trying to make his mother feel better by telling her they weren’t robbing the WHOLE bank. Yeah Mikey, that’s much better.

Really loving Maddie’s black and white checkered bag, it’s so cute.

Michael completely losing his nut over his mom getting arrested and the way he stopped his rant when he saw her standing outside the car.

Sam and Fiona in their snazzy outfits. Both of them looked great and I loved Sam referring to her as “the old ball and chain” and Fiona searching around for the right sized gun to fit in her clutch.

Fi playing the dumb rich wife to help protect the kidnapped woman. Probably not smart but I sure did admire her for doing it.

Michael playing negotiator with the kidnappers.

Fi sending a Morse code message with her eyes. Brilliant.

Maddie refusing to go home until Fi was home too. Yay! Go Maddie!

Michael kindly offering to help Jesse beat himself up for letting the husband make a deal with the kidnappers. Aw, ain’t that nice?

Fi dislocating her shoulder to escape from the chair. Wow, hardcore and um….ouch.

Waiting on pins and needles for that damn bulb to burst while the kidnapper held a gun to Fi’s head.

Getting a kick out of the fact that Michael was standing face to face with the two guys holding guns and he got the better of both by holding out nothing more than a cell phone.

The idiot brother falling for the watch duct taped to the bomb as a timer.

Maddie being able to spot that Jesse was starting to fall for Fi. Okay I must be dense because up until she said that, I had no clue that he felt that way.

Overall not only an action packed episode with lots of great character interaction but also the beginnings of a love triangle that promises to get very interesting.

Alright people, so I’m moved in and ready to start posting reviews again. Woot!

To celebrate my triumphant return, here’s my review for the latest episode of Burn Notice – “Entry Point”. In this ep, the team is split up with Michael and Fi working with a client who creates forgeries of high-end items and inadvertently got himself mixed up with a thief after a super expensive sword. Michael and Fi have to play private security for hire in order to track down the thief, aka “Mr. Slippery”. Things go awry (don’t they always) though when it turns out that the thief is actually a “Miss”, not a “Mister”.

Meanwhile, Jesse is put on point to interrogate Kendra and Sam ends up floating between both jobs, applying his skills wherever they are needed. What a team player.

My favorite bits….

Michael comparing interrogating a hostile prisoner to proposing marriage. Trouble is, I really can’t decide if I’m totally offended by that…..or kinda turned on a little.

Kendra going so far to show off how tough she was by bashing her head into the table repeatedly. Holy crap, that was scary.

Sam saying that he was officially eating his lunch, and drinking his beer of course, “in protest”. LOL.

Sam actually using the term “don’t let him slip you any wooden nickels” (which basically means don’t get tricked). Okay, what is this? 1948 or something?

Fi getting completely distracted off the job by all the shoes in the room. Hey, can’t say I blame her.

Laughing at the term “hot tub assassination attempt”.

The obvious joy Sam got out of screaming (and spitting a little) at Jesse.

Jesse really being able to pull off the lowly grunt act. Heck, even I was falling for it.

Michael’s role of the week – Randy, with an “R”, country arson inspector.

Michael using a file sharing site to upload intelligence. Nice.

Wacky cat lady telling Fi that she’s obviously too disorganized to work at their company and then Fi throwing a coffee cup at her. Hilarious.

Poor Buddy having to get shot in the arm to keep him from getting blown up. Ouch.

OMG! LOVED the Burn Notice/White Collar commercial with Fi & Michael and (NAME???).”Is that a grenade?”, “What grenade?” ROTFLMAO!

Jesse asking Sam – “Hey, let me ask you something. Is it weird that I kinda miss you?” – LOL! So loving these two together.

The look on Michael’s face right before he tossed Buddy out the window. Classic.

Finding out that my suspicions about the assistant chick were right when she turned out to be “Miss Slippery”.

Michael using Fi’s purse (one he never liked) to put a bomb under a moving car. Awesome.

Michael and Sam sitting on the couch, watching the interrogation with beers and sandwiches, totally cracked me up. It looked like a couple guys watching football on a Sunday.

Micheal telling Jesse that he really could use some more friends, after Jesse said it would be weird not hanging out with their hostage.

Overall an action packed and fun episode that had shows that this new team works well together, as well as apart.

In this week’s episode of Burn Notice, a couple of the “background” characters get to be more center stage. First off there’s Madeline, who’s enjoying having Jesse around the house, and also getting to the bottom of who he is and why he’s in Michael’s life.

Then there’s Sam. Usually Sam is backup for Michael or Fi, always there when they need him – playing wacky undercover guys to keep the baddies distracted, sitting on a rooftop with a long range rifle ready to put a bullet in anyone who threatens them, or sitting in a hot car listening to endless hours of boring conversations on bugs that he’s planted. This week though, Sam has to basically run an op himself, with everyone else on the team as backup for him.

My favorite bits…

Sam coming straight to the most important part of the mission – the snacks.

The montage of everyone chatting up all the various ship crews on the docks.

Jesse saving the security guard, so willing to stick his neck out for the little guy. Michael saves people too, but when he started he was hesitant at best. It’s interesting to see the difference between the two.

The way Madeline grilled Jesse in the kitchen. Nothing gets past her and I love it.

Michael making one of the most disgusting bugs I’ve ever seen. Ugh, that thing made me wanna barf – which I guess was the whole point.

Michael once again seamlessly pulling off an undercover personality – this one a wimpy drunk Fed on suspension.

Michael taking down two thugs by himself. I know he’s generally a badass on the show, but I still love it when we get to see an example of his skills.

Finding out the terrible way that Jesse’s mother died when he was a kid. Guess we’re getting an idea of what makes him always want to help the helpless.

One of my favorite songs, ‘Unstoppable’ by Santigold, being played in the club.

Sam and Jesse taking down the mobster in the bathroom. Brilliant.

Kind of crushing on “Chuck Finley”. I know he’s a killer but I can’t help it. First of all he’s kinda cute (sorta looks like that Bruce Campbell guy) and he’s pretty freaking funny. How many killers name their knives “Mr. Slicey”?

Sam being the one to take point on an op, once Michael’s undercover ID was compromised.

Jesse forcing Sam to tell his El Salvador story. I could tell right away from the way he told it, that it was real and it made me love Sam even more.

Sam getting pissed at Jesse for forcing him “pimp his past” to the badguys.

Madeline asking if word had gotten out about her cookies when Jesse hesitated to take one. LOL.

The op all going to plan, right up to the point where the mobster they were trying to entrap went back for Sam. Dang that Jesse and him forcing Sam to tell his El Salvador story.

Fi running auditions for the “troops”. Yeah, that looked like a real tough job…

Michael and Fi putting the blankets over their heads and sniping the cars from a rooftop. Okay I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought that looked so cool.

Tony talking big to Gio while his army ran out on him in the background. Oops.

Madeline knowing what Michael did to Jesse because the look he had on his face matched the one he wore when he joined the Army, leaving his little brother to deal with their abusive father alone. She knows that he’s lying to Jesse and knows it won’t end well. Like I said, nothing gets past her and I love her for it. The conversations between Michael and his mother have turned out to be some of most intense moments in the show recently. Great stuff.
